AWARDED AT THE DKT

The machine builder DESMA has impressively demonstrated its competence at the most important event of the elastomer industry this year. The DKT Product Award underlines the technological claim.

DESMA has never before presented its products on a larger booth at the DKT. On 200 m² and two floors the company showed its capabilities. The visitors from 35 countries experienced two machines equipped with the latest technology, which made it possible to experience how modern elastomer processing works.

DKG-Product Award

DESMA is particularly proud of the award of the DKG Product Award in the category raw materials and auxiliaries to SmartConnect 4.U. The jury’s statement states that the award is based on the fact that SmartConnect4.U has been awarded with the DKG Product Award. In the jury’s statement it says: “The networking of man and machine requires adapted practical solutions also in the rubber industry. SmartConnect4.U offers digital networking of injection molding machines and peripheral systems using generic interfaces and systems. It enables an increase in efficiency and availability of the entire process chain in elastomer processing. In addition, the approach offers individualization and traceability of products in an increasingly flexible production.”

Martin Schürmann sees the award as both a confirmation and an incentive: ‘Once again, we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to DKG for this honorable distinction. – The Product Award, presented by the German Rubber Society and selected by its scientific advisory board, expresses the recognition of an entire industry for our product developments on the subject of Industry 4.0. This confirms and motivates us to continue to push our efforts in order to make a further important contribution to industry and customer success.’

With its SmartConnect 4.U product range, DESMA has already been demonstrating for years how production processes can become more flexible, efficient and resource-saving through intelligent networking. The systems ensure higher plant and machine availability, transparent and better product quality, and unit-cost-oriented production efficiency. DESMA will further develop the system in terms of customer benefit.

DESMA Records 2018

DESMA takes a look back at the successful past year in its annually published RECORDS, which Martin Schürmann presented in Nuremberg. According to this, DESMA was able to win orders for a total of 517 machines from all over the world in 2017. This year’s RECORDS are dedicated to the customer success to be ensured by DESMA services and to DESMA’s 588 employees through the portraits of the respective site activities.

EXHIBITS ON THE STAND

The two exhibits on the stand met with great interest from the professional audience.

A D 969.100 Z produced live on the booth without waste and rework. This was made possible by a ZeroWaste ITM pot. This was further developed with eight temperature-controlled nozzles for sprueless direct gating. The integrated cavity pressure sensor for switching off the transfer process ensures a consistent article volume. Thanks to a swiveling screw cylinder, compounds and molds can be changed within 10 minutes.

In a vertical BENCHMARK D 968.250 ZOB, DESMA has installed the new FlowControl E-Drive cold runner with electrically controlled shut-off nozzles. The filling process of each nozzle can be controlled and balanced individually via the machine control or via the cavity pressure sensor PressureSense.

Both machines were equipped with the SmartConnect 4.U Cockpit, which creates new dimensions of communication between machine builder and user. With online support and the online store for spare parts via electronic machine files, automatic monitoring of machine status and an intelligent maintenance tool, enormous optimization potential can be exploited.

SMARTTRACE FOR TRANSPARENCY

The precise documentation of production and also the traceability of individual parts are becoming increasingly important. With SmartTrace DESMA showed its proven solution live. The produced article becomes the information carrier. First, an integrated laser scans the mold located in the injection molding machine by means of a QR code. All data required for the process are automatically displayed. Optionally, the compound used can also be read by means of a hand scanner and linked to the process-relevant parameters. After demolding, the article is marked with a QR code via a laser station and the most important process values can be read out and traced easily and at any time.
