BEYOND DESMA

Michael Benz has been a part of the DESMA team for 22 years. Started as an employee in the final inspection and in 2008 the change as a training specialist in the training department. 5 years later he changed as an electronic technician to the machine acceptance and is still working there. In addition to his work in the final inspection of DESMA, he has been volunteering for the mountain rescue Donau-Heuberg for more than 30 years.

The mountain rescue Donau-Heuberg is an important rescue organization in the district of Tuttlingen, which specializes in rescue / recovery away from roads and buildings. This includes the first aid, establishment of the transportability as well as the transport of the patient up to the handover to the road or also air-bound rescue service. A distinction is made between summer and winter services, as different types of operations usually occur depending on the season.

Examples of the areas of operation:
Hiking, climbing and cycling accidents, hang gliding and paragliding accidents, work accidents in impassable terrain (e.g. forest workers), snow sports accidents and the search for missing persons.
In order to be able to fulfill the tasks, a “service evening” takes place once a week. On these service evenings, exercises are carried out such as evacuation from impassable terrain, map and compass reading. But also radio and medical training are important components.

Each mountain rescuer has a personal equipment, which he has procured himself. These are, for example, sturdy hiking boots, a headlamp, for winter service possibly skis, climbing harness, climbing accessories such as carabiners, slings, rappelling equipment, climbing helmet. The service clothing such as a jacket is provided by the readiness.

Our great respect and thanks to you, Michael, and your colleagues from the mountain rescue, for your tireless efforts virtually around the clock to help people in an emergency!
