TUESDAY IS RUBBER DAY: END PRODUCT ‘COVERS FOR BINOCULARS, RUBBER COATING OF LENSES, GRIP PROTECTION ON CAMERAS’.

Did you know that many so-called ‘optical parts’ are produced on DESMA machines

Whether it is a cover for the lens, a grip protector on the camera or the whole ‘cover’ on a pair of binoculars – all these are made of high quality elastomers to which high demands are made. These surfaces should not fade in sunlight, i.e. be UV-resistant, keep out water, be pleasant to the touch and not become slippery, but also not attract every grain of dust, look good and of course protect the usually very expensive inner workings well for a long time.

In addition to the selection of a suitable material, a stable and precise injection molding process is therefore extremely important. Tolerances must be precisely maintained, the compound homogeneously distributed and evenly vulcanized.

Our DESMA 969 SEALMASTER series and the FlowControl PressureSense technology are particularly suitable for this purpose. Pinpoint gating and shutdown via cavity pressure sensors ensure consistent quality at all times. Thanks to envelope and process data monitoring, in combination with SmartTrace, the manufacturing parameters of each article can also be traced at any time.
