TUESDAY IS RUBBERDAY: CO²-FOOTPRINT

Today something different! With all the different applications and uses of elastomer articles that we have reported on in recent months – do you actually know what carbon footprint YOUR elastomer end product carries with it?
However, this topic is becoming increasingly important. In the foreseeable future, it will become an important decision criterion for most manufacturers and consumers.

If in the future, for example, car manufacturers will have to provide information about what carbon footprint a specific new car carries with it until it is delivered?

To be able to determine this, all CO² values of the installed parts must be known. This means that every supplier, whether of plastic/elastomer or metal parts, must know and be able to name the CO” footprint of his article.
For this purpose, DESMA has developed the PCF (Product Carbon Footprint) Navigator Ecos to determine the CO² footprint of a product manufactured on DESMA machines. From the manufacture of the injection molding machine and production equipment and through its production use, taking into account the selected production process and, if applicable, subsequent processes or upstream processes.

Likewise, options for action can be shown and, for example, by integrating DESMA CoolApp, the most CO²-efficient production method can be determined already in the project planning phase when designing the machine and mold concept and the cold runner technology.
