The training mainly takes place at DESMA in Fridingen and at the vocational school. In the 1st and 2nd year of training, the trainees learn how to read technical documents, how to handle materials, how to machine and hand-machine, how to assemble materials, how to form sheets and tubes, how to assemble components. In the 3rd and 4th year of training, trainees learn to manufacture workpieces with a high degree of dimensional accuracy, what to consider when assembling and disassembling tools, and how to check the dimensional accuracy and surface finish of a workpiece.
