Tuesday is RUBBER DAY – End product: pharmaceutical stoppers and caps for medicine bottles

Did you know that the stoppers for medicine bottles are also produced on DESMA machines?

Under clean room conditions, large quantities of these small but absolutely important articles are produced in each cycle from chlorine or brom butyl elastomer compounds. A common production process here is the so-called ICM “Injection Compression Moulding”.

The elastomer compound is injected into a defined gap in the injection mold, then compressed and vulcanized out. Here, an absolute parallelism of the clamping unit and uniform pressure distribution are essential, therefore the DESMA clamping units are optimally designed for this by means of FEM calculation.
